Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the operator of Brainelo. By creating an account, playing at play.brainelo.de or using the Brainelo app, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Brainelo is a brain-training platform with mini-games, daily challenges, Elo ratings, leaderboards, weekly leagues, friends, challenges and achievements, available as a browser game at play.brainelo.de and as a mobile app (together, the "service"). Brainelo is in active development (beta); features may change while it evolves.

To make sure there is always someone to play, some players in leaderboards, leagues and challenges are computer-controlled practice players.

Parts of the service are paid. Without Brainelo Pro you can play each day’s daily games and the games a friend challenges you to; Brainelo Pro unlocks every game without limits. Brainelo Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription through the app store, also as a family plan (see section 6). What is free can differ between the app and the browser version; we always show you before a purchase what is paid.

• You can play as a guest or register (Sign in with Apple on iPhone and iPad, Google sign-in, or email and password). A guest can link Apple, Google or an email address later and keep their progress. Accounts are personal and non-transferable.
• Keep your credentials confidential — you are responsible for all activity under your account.
• You can delete your account at any time (in the app under Profile → Account → Delete Account, or by email as described on the Account Deletion page).
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

• Play fair: no cheats, bots, automation, exploits or manipulation of ratings and leaderboards.
• Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech or offensive usernames or display names.
• You can report a player (their profile → ⋮ → Report) and block them (⋮ → Block). Blocking ends the friendship, and neither of you can add or challenge the other. Blocked players are listed under Settings → Blocked players.
• New display names are checked automatically before other players see them. After four rejected names, you can no longer change your name until our support lifts the lock. If we ban an account, we may also ban its devices; a new account on them is banned too.
• No scraping, reverse engineering, decompiling or attacking the service or its servers.
• Do not use the service in any way that violates applicable law.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive players. We review every report within 24 hours and, where it is justified, remove the name and suspend or close the account.

• Purchases are processed through the app store you buy from (Google Play Billing or Apple’s App Store). Renewals, cancellations and refunds follow that store's terms.
• Free trial: a new guest profile gets 3 days of full access from the moment it is created; signing up with Apple, Google or an email address gives 7 days from sign-up. This trial runs on our server, needs no payment details, ends by itself and is never charged.
• Introductory offers that the app store may show when you subscribe (for example a free or discounted first period) follow that store’s terms; the store tells you before you confirm when the paid period starts.
• Family plan: the subscriber (owner) can share Brainelo Pro with up to 5 other players through an invite link that works for 7 days. Members have Pro only while they belong to the family and the owner’s family subscription is active: it ends when the subscription ends, when the owner removes them or when they leave. Only the owner is billed and manages the subscription. Guests cannot own or join a family.
• Uninstalling the app or deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — cancel it in the store you subscribed in (in the Google Play Store under Subscriptions; on iPhone and iPad in Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
• Pro access and virtual items have no cash value and are non-transferable.
• Prices may change; changes never affect periods you have already paid for.

• The service — games, design, code, texts and the Brainelo brand — is owned by Klaus Greiner and protected by copyright and other laws.
• You get a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for its intended purpose. Anything else requires our written permission.
• Content you create (username, display name) stays yours; by creating it you grant us the non-exclusive right to store and display it within the service.

Your username, display name, brain avatar (and the items it wears), ratings, streaks, XP, league placement and friends are visible to other players — in leaderboards, player search, profiles, weekly leagues and challenges. Profiles, player search and leaderboards can also be seen without signing in; your friends list only by signed-in players. Challenge links you share show your name, the game and your score to anyone who opens them. Only share content you are allowed to share publicly.

We work hard to keep the service available and error-free, but we cannot guarantee it. The service is provided "as is"; maintenance, changes and outages may occur at any time.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (including lost profits or data) arising from the use of the service. This does not apply to intent or gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or liability under the German Product Liability Act. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain unaffected.

These Terms apply for as long as you use the service. You can end them at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate access for material violations of these Terms; where possible we will tell you why.

We may adapt these Terms as the service evolves. We will announce material changes in the app or on this page with reasonable advance notice. If you keep using the service after the new Terms take effect, they apply to you.

German law applies. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.
